CyberSmart Term 2 - "What we Share"

Today we had our first CyberSmart session back in class with Phil. The focus was "What we Share' - the idea of looking at our personal information and deciding whether or not it is safe to post on the internet or not. We started off by looking at a really interesting YouTube clip with a social experiment conducted by a cafe. They got customers to like their Facebook page, and then the barristers wrote on their coffee cups all of the personal information that was available for people to see from their Facebook profiles. Needless to say, the customers were stunned that this was all visible to anyone who wanted to see! Our students were quite shocked about what they saw in the video, and it was a great way to start off the lesson.

The next part of the lesson got students to SMURF a set of Google Slides and categorise the information listed into either "public" or "private". There were a number of different opinions amongst the class as to whether certain pieces of information should be kept private or if it was ok to be shared. Another great task!

The 'Create' part of the lesson gave students the choice of 3 tasks: design a poster on Google Drawings which taught about the information that should be shared publically or kept private, using ScreenCastify to make a TV advert, or a 'Pick-a-Path' Google Slides which helped people learn about smart sharing options. The class really enjoyed this part of the lesson!

After this, the class did their blog posts.
Below, you will find a selection of the finished Create tasks from the lesson.

Here is John's TV add - how cool?!

Here is an awesome poster which Natalia and Lucy created!
Here is a 'Pick-a-Path' slide quiz that Richard put together. Very cool, Richard!

  3. Hey room 8 it's me again, Toby. I definitely agree that private info should not be shared with the world. Also I love the quiz you created. It's so COOL how you had buttons to press to take you to the answer. So Smart! Did you all work on it together? Maybe add a link to the video because I can't watch it but still it's cool that one of you made a TV ad! Keep it Up.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Toby
